AC COMPRESSOR PULLEY NOISE

Featured Replies

Hi, my Octavia is making constant noise on low revs from AC Clutch/Pulley. Been to the mechanic and they say if we only change the pulley it won’t work, so need to change the whole compressor.
I was wondering why is that, why can’t we just change the Pulley which has some rust on it and making noise? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Been there done that... You most assuredly can change just the pulley, and should change the garage too.

Thank you for your reply, I’ll definitely consider changing the garage before changing the Pulley. 😃

Especially as they think it has an AC clutch pulley which the majority of VAG vehicles have not had for over 2 decades and yours 100% does not, it has a shear plate pulley.

The noise might not be the pulley bearing, it could be the shaft bearing on the pump but unlikely if the AC is still working, the pulley bearing is more exposed and has a much harder life.
