Windscreen spray not working and after a delay the jet flow is weak

Featured Replies

I have a 2019 Karoq 1.5 Sportline. I bought it in July 2024. The windscreen washers have not worked properly in the time I have owned it, but I've only just realised the severity of the problem since winter has arrived.

When I pull the stalk to squirt fluid onto the screen there is a 4-5 second delay before any fluid is released from the jets. Once it does flow the flow is weak and piddles a small amount onto the screen. I believe there should be an immediate spray onto the screen at high power. The jets are little horizontal slits, which I have adjusted into the highest position.

Headlamp washers work fine. Rear wiper works fine.

Any ideas? Video attached.

Kev.

New nozzles are cheap.  To replaced the clogged up ones.

The officially recommended Windscreen wash from VW Group and the tears of virgins is not cheap,

Thanks Ootohere.

Would clogged jets explain the weak flow AND the delay?

I have removed the plastic jets which appear to be unblocked. I think I've spotted a wet hose under the bulkhead tray so I suspect there's a leak allowing the screenwash to drain down to a certain level in the hose between sprays, thereby requiring a delay to fill back up, and poor pressure because of the leak.

I have an RAC warrant from the dealer - taking it back to them.

I hope that gets it sorted. Can you let us know, please, what the conclusion is?

Not that this will help if there's a leak but, as the jets are elliptical, they do clog easily so I always use VAG or BMW screen-wash purchased online, and dilute it with 'distilled' water from the dehumidifier.
