1.0 TSI 95hp Camshaft Slow Response

Featured Replies

Hello everyone and sorry if the subject was discussed in another topic. I drive a 2019 Rapid 1.0 TSI with 120000km on dash. After an oil change at a Skoda dealer service - they recomended Castrol 5w30 504.00 - after 3-4000km the EPC light appeared with P000B00 "B" Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 1. The error showed up from time to time only after a cold engine start and goes away by it self alfter a few minutes. When the engine is warm, I have no problem at all. I returned to the same service and they told me that one solution was to switch the camshaft sersors and VVT solenoids to determine if one of it is faulty.

After the camshaft sensors were switched, the same error reapeared. Then I decided to change the oil again with 0W20 508.00 Castrol LL IV. And surprise, for a few thousand km the EPC light never showed up. But now, after another 3-4000km with the 508.00 oil, i get the same error - Camshaft Position Slow Response.

Did anyone had the same problem? Is wierd that after the oil change, I didn't have any problems without changing anything else.

Thanks!

Welcome.

The VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV oil was recommended by VW Group / Skoda because your engine has a GPF.  (& because they went to that for WLTP Certification.)

The oil changed should not have made any difference but then you noticed it.

?

Has your car had the Spark Plugs changed now for the 2nd time?

Hi, thank you for answering! It's weird that when the error appeared in the first place (with the 5w30), it showed for 7-8 times in two weeks. Immediatley after the second oil change (0w20), the problem was gone for 3-4000km.

I haven't changed the spark plugs yet.

The recommended schedule of 40,000 miles / 4 years might seem to often but there are those with 1.0 TSI 3 cylinders seeing a plug failure long before that.

A failing plug can reduce the inginition coils life.

I will take care right away. Do you think this has something to do with the error i'm encountering?
