No way!!!!

I've said for a while I'll never go near one but that just re-enforces that thought.

And I said ages ago in another topic on here that self driving cars will never happen mainstream ........

Some may think that it will and that is fine......

Tesla? Looks like a Jaaaaag logo on the steering wheel. I-PACE?

"Do you have your app working?".................... "I need you to go to my journey"..................... "I'm sorry I can't stop the car, I need you to............."

FFS!!!!

I know some of the above is paraphrased from memory but FFS!

Thanks for posting that.

Indeed - surely there should be either a big red 'Emergency Stop' button in / on the car, or a means for the 'control centre' to stop the car in an emergency

I agree that I wouldn't get into driverless car, but in this case the car kept on driving around the car park. It didn't crash, it didn't run anyone over, so apart from nearly missing his flight he didn't appear to be in any imminent danger. He could have jumped into a normal taxi where the driver has an accident or the taxi broke down.

If there was a emergency 'kill switch' installed it would be OK to use in this situation, but what if the car was on the outside lane on the interstate?

At least he made his flight.

My thought was the kill switch could be a two stage one.  The first press could default to a 'safe stop' routine and if that didn't work the second would instigate a system shutdown and total stop wherever the vehicle happened to be.

That would work.👍
