cjza misfire on cylinder 3.

Featured Replies

I have the problem that cylinder 3 does not hav spark. I have tested the spark plugs, and the ignition coils.

I have tested the 2 grounds and the positiv wires to the ignition coil. And they are fin. I have tested the signal wire from the ECU, and it is fin. (  from the pin in the ECU connector to the ignition coil.) and it was fin.

Then I thought it might be the ECU, so I got a new used one, and got it coded.

But the problem is still there. Same error.

Is there something I'm not seeing?

Well, my first thought is: have you tried swapping the coils between (lets say, cylinder 2 and cylinder 3).  Does the error move?  If so, that would indicate a coil pack failure.  Would recommend replacing all the coils if that is the case.

Can you also get a boroscope and check into the cylinder head of cylinder 3?  Can you see if its looks steam cleaned?  If so, you have a cylinder head gasket issue and it needs replacing.

Going for a new ECU is a bit dramatic (and expensive) unless you can 100% guarantee that the driver in the ECU has failed.

Hello again

it shows p0353 and p0303. so I thought it was an electrical fault, and have not been able to see pest the error codes.

A have a colleague who suggested. thad And that I should try doing a compression test. And there is no compression on cylinder 3.

So the question now, is whether I should find a used engien or whether it should be scrapped.

Depends what the problem is, like a broken valve spring maybe doable. If its a hole in a piston problem not a repair!
