Missing anti-theft fuses.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a second-hand Fabia Mk4 (manufactured in early 2023), and I’ve noticed, as you can see from the picture, that I’m missing a couple of fuses in fuse box C that are related to the anti-theft systems. Specifically:

  • Fuse 28 - Anti-theft sensor
  • Fuse 29 - Anti-theft device sound signal

Based on my understanding of the workshop manual, these systems are part of the basic equipment and should be present in every version (as shown in the circuit diagram below). Is it possible that the previous owner removed these two fuses?

Thanks!

There appears to be only one metallic contact in each of those slots, implying that even if fuses were there,  they would do nothing.

So, either the car has no alarm, or it uses different fuse positions.

If you share reg number or VIN I could look up whether it was built without an alarm.

Good point. I didn't notice it from the picture.

Thanks for you offer! I am sending you a private massage.

@neoa Which country are you in or which country was the car built to be sold in?

Is it a right or left hand drive car?

Sold in Italy, left-hand drive.

Does an alarm function then if you lock someone in the car and they move, or you leave a window open and lock and stick an arm in and wave it about, or rock the car back and fore?

I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks

Replied to your message.

Appears to have immobiliser only.

Less to go wrong. 🙂

Thank you all for your replies.

So, to sum up, my version doesn't have the anti-theft system (I also verified it by doing some tests as you suggested). It's not a big problem, but I'm just puzzled because the diagrams showed the system as non-optional.

Since I'm here, could you tell me what that large red switch in the bottom left corner of the fuse box does? I assume it disconnects the power, or am I wrong? If so, do you know which systems it controls?
