Rear Springs

Featured Replies

Hi have a 2013 Combi

Just had a rear offside spring snap, I spent an age looking through forum to no avail. On checking colours on the spring it appears to be White Green Orange (its definitely more orange than brown especially seeing examples of brown on photos of springs in the forum) but I cannot find reference to these 3 colours anywhere.

However white green brown equates to OE 1K0 511 115 DF

But I am tempted to go with OE 3C0 511 115 AF for the slight increase in weight rating although it does list it as 1mm shorter.

Autodoc lists them both as not compatible with my car.

I am struggling to find in autodoc the right replacement bolt kit for the wishbone I would rather order from one place than several if possible.

Any thought or guidance most appreciated, thank you in advance.

Before trying stiffer rear springs, it might be best to bring the rear suspension back to new condition...at least as far the the springs and spring seats are concerned. The estate will already have stiffer rear springs than the equivalent hatchback version...perhaps about 10% stiffer.

Kilen/Lesjofors are made in Sweden in a modern factory so should be reliable. Kilen/Lesjofors are the biggest supplier of aftermarket car springs in Europe. Kilen and Lesjofors are the same, just sold under different brand names in order to increase market share. Just purchase whichever is cheapest. Kilen is usually cheaper and more common than Lesjofors in the UK, but in many European countries it's the other way around.

Check the condition of the rear springs seats (top and bottom). If they are worn, that will cause a reduction in rear ride height...as will worn/sagging rear springs.

Have a look here for some good info in this topic:

I've listed out all the weight ranges that are available and the corresponding part numbers for springs and dampers.

White green brown is weight range 6 and is too soft for most combi owners. I replaced springs and dampers on the back of mine a few years ago, and even on new parts it was sagging slightly. I ended up fitting helper springs to correct it. If you tow or regularly drive with a lot in the boot, I'd suggest weight range 14.

Just a point to note, if you find the spring you want but it the rear will sit lower then the Audi TT rear top rubber mount is about 7mm thicker. Its a trick used on Golfs etc when lowering to get the rear end back up and stop it looking silly low.
