Help Needed: Persistent Airbag Light on 2005 Skoda Octavia After Seat Swap

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my 2005 Skoda Octavia and hoping someone here can help. A while ago, the electric seat module on the driver’s side fried, so I replaced the seat with a manual one from a Superb. During the same repair, I also fixed the AC system. Ever since then, the airbag light has been coming on roughly two months after clearing the fault codes.

I’ve had the codes scanned, and it points to the airbag system under the driver’s seat. I’ve already checked the connections under there, and they seem fine, but the problem keeps coming back.

I’m wondering if the issue could be tied to the fact that the car was originally equipped with an electric seat. Do you think it would be worth getting another seat control module and trying to reinstall an electric seat? The airbag light wasn’t an issue before I swapped to the manual seat, so I’m thinking it might be related.

Here I’ve attached photos of the codes that were found before clearing last.

Any advice on how to fix this permanently? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the seat connectors aren't staying permanently "made".

I agree if its only coming on every couple of months that could point to either broken wire or loose/dirty connector. Its possible that at some point the wire has been pulled and may have broken.

Check the yellow wire in harness from car to door, that if you peel back the rubber harness you might find what   I had, which was. a broken wire . Easy fix
