Wheel differences, weight, quality, price?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am currently up to decide about the wheel option for my new Superb combi.

The decision is currently narrowed down to two choices: Dofida or Belatrix (both 18'' size).

In the Škoda configurator for my country, it says the Dofida wheels are more expensive, they costs 592.50€ more than Belatrix.

Tried to find any detailed comparison between weels (e.g. wheel weight, material, quality), but I only found the below image (source link😞

So my question would be- is anyone on the forum informed about the weight or quality difference between Dofida and Belatrix 18'' wheels, that explains the price difference?

Thanks in advance :)

@vranisimo  Where is your country?

Does the difference in weight of wheels really matter when fitted to a Superb for road use?

IMO the Belatrix look better, but if Diamond Cut faces i would give them a miss.

I am from Croatia :)

I agree that Belatrix look better and they are currently my top choice, but if there is maybe a huge difference in terms of the e.g. a build quality (material), weather resistance, weight, that caused the price difference, then I will also think about Dofida.

I will for sure ask a dealer too, but just wanted to prepare before that.

I dont know the weight or quality difference but i think it also on your color of choice. i think these are the belatrix although they look different from the sales pix. for me they are perfect with my car and color⁸

Thank you for the reply, the color+wheels combination looks amazing!

This is basically the same option I was planning to choose, the graphite grey plus Belatrix (18''), or in your case Veritate (19'').

Will post here if dealer tell me some more details.

Hi, I have the Dofida wheels on my Superb SE. I think they look quite good but are a bit fiddly to keep clean.

They do have one very annoying design 'fault'; they have a 20mm x 10mm (ish) deep groove just behind the spokes around the full circumference of the wheel.

This groove obviously collects dust/dirt etc then when it rains (or you wash it) the dirt gets floated to the lowest part nearest the road.

It then dries out and you have a localised patch of dirt in the wheel. Depending how youv'e parked it's either very visible or not at all!

To get an idea of rim weights for the Superb MK4 you can look at the alloy rims shown in the Skoda accessory catalogue on "skoda eshop cz" for the Superb MK3 and Superb MK4. "skoda eshop cz" don't list the weights for all the alloys rims that they list. There's more alloy rims and their weights shown for the Superb MK3 compared to the Superb MK4. One point to note is that the 19" alloy rims listed for the Superb MK4 are quite a bit lighter than the 19" alloy rims shown for the Superb MK3. I expect all of these alloy rims are made from the same cheap, cast aluminium.

Alloy rim weights for Superb MK3

16" 9.9kg

17" 11.25kg to 12.6kg

18" 12.1kg to 12.8kg

19" 13.9kg to 14.9kg

Alloy rim weights for Superb MK4

16" 10.5kg

19" 12.6kg to 13.1kg

For big weight savings, look at 16" steel rims such as the non-standard Alcar 6665 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Karoq) (weight 7.60kg) and the non-standard Alcar 9187 6.5Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 (from Audi A3) (weight 7.62kg). These non-standard rims could be ideal for winter or all-season tyres...or even summer tyres for an owner who doesn't mind lots of sidewall height and lots of comfort.

The Audi A3 steel rim is a similar design to the Karoq steel rim, so the Karoq wheel trims might also fit these Audi A3 steel rims.

Hi all, I am looking for the 17'' aluminum winter rims that will fit my Superb Combi TDI 150 PS.

Asked my dealer to give me an offer for the official winter set (rims + tires) and got this two sizes:

7x17 5/112 ET43

7.5x17 5/112 ET41

I already found my favorites rims I would like to buy, that are available in two sizes (ET values) but the problem now is that I am unable to find any official document where allowed ET range is mentioned for Skoda Superb 4.

Available rims I am focused on matches all dimensions except the ET offset which is ET40 or ET45 versus ET43 that comes with the official rims.

7x17 5/112 ET40

7x17 5/112 ET45

The only information I can find on the internet is this unofficial page, where the offset is mentioned as 39 - 43, but for 7.5 rims. Not sure if this ET value depends on the rim width.
image.png

I understand this is just a few millimeters difference between this two ET values, but would like to fist check with anyone more informed about rims here :)

The logical option would be to choose 7x17 5/112 ET40 but would like to check...

The below information is extracted from the Superb MK3 and Superb MK4 owners' manuals.

The offset ranges of -2mm to +2mm that wheel-size.com show on their website appear to be arbitrary numbers plucked out of thin air, so probably best ignored.

Some countries in Europe (such as Germany) don't allow you to use a wheel size that's not in the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity). However, if legalities and insurance allow you might want to also look at the winter wheel sizes (ie. suitable for snow chains) that the Superb MK3 lists in its owner's manual...ie. 215/60R16 6.5Jx16 ET41 and 215/55R17 6.5Jx17 ET41. Bear in mind, that the Superb MK4 does use an ET41 offset with its 215/55R17 7.5Jx17 ET41 wheel size.

Technical data and specifications (Superb MK3)

Permitted rim and tyre combinations for mounting snow chains:

Rim dimensions

Tyre dimensions

6,5Jx16 ET41

215/60 R16

6,5Jx17 ET41

215/55 R17

Only use snow chains with links no larger than 13 mm, including locks.

Technical data and specifications (Superb MK4)

Permitted rim and tyre combinations for mounting snow chains:

Rim dimensions

Tyre dimensions

7J×16 ET43

215/60 R16

7J×17 ET43

215/55 R17

Only use snow chains with links no larger than 13 mm, including locks.

My car has just two allowed options:

7,5J17 ET41

7J17 ET43

So that matches what your dealer told you. I also chose to go with 17" for winter tyres and the ET value narrowed it down a lot.

My car has a 110kW engine if it's relevant.

please note that 16" rims will not fit on some variants of the new MK3 superb. this is related to the brake disc diameter. CHECK BEFORE BUYING!!!

Sorry mis-typed previous reply I meant MK4 not Mk3
