High voltage battery error

Featured Replies

Hi all, I keep getting “high voltage battery low” or “empty”. Any ideas?

I have a Octavia I’ve estate (hybrid) so unsure if this relates to hybrid battery being empty or the 12v going flat. Car is 3 and a half years old.

had a Google but could not find anything!

that means the HV battery needs charging - if you plug it in, the message will go away.

When the HV battery is empty, the car seems to really not like you driving it with fairly constant warnings. Its probably not great for battery health either, as ideally theres a buffer to keep charge within it

My 12v died this morning because washing my car activated the keyless entry to many times.

Thanks, Simon. That's reassuring. I was worried that my 12v battery was starting to play up!

I seem to remember, when you charge the HV battery, it also tops up the 12V. So in doubt, plug in

Some early versions of the charging software/hardware didn't correctly charge the 12V when plugged in only when driving with the ICE on - there have been several threads here on the subject.

Can this be fixed with software updates? Or is this an hardware issue and can’t be fixed? And are local Skoda dealers all aware of it? Or does this problem exist online and is not officially been recognised by Skoda itself

IIRC only software updates, but not all Skoda dealers are aware - one Mk4 owner even sold his car recently because his dealer knew nothing about the fix!

You'll need to search through this Octavia IV forum to find the details.
