Oil Warning Message - Please Reduce Oil Level. Workshop!

Featured Replies

Not particularly likely, AFAIK, Eco mode simply lowers change-up point of gearbox (lower revs) and limits throttle response. Interrupted DPF regens and shorter trip distances are more likely to be the cause - although it sounds like your issue of increasing oil level may not be as much as you originally thought, and may actually just be a oversensitive high level sensor.

Mine has gone in for exactly the same issue today, the light came on on a trip to the dealers, they changed the oil and the next day it came on again. A few days later it went off, the dealer thinks it may be a sensor that requires attention. I use the car for short and longish trips (40+ Miles) The car should be returning later today, there was no mention of any other cause at this time.

Interesting. Our light has not come on since the oil change, but electrical gremlins in general have been a problem for our successive Karoqs over the last 7 years.

It is odd, we'll see what the dealer does to resolve it, I use the car regularly but not always for long trips. But, this is the only issue i've had with the car other that interior rattles (these drive me mad sometimes 🤣)

Well, looks like the sensor stayed off under testing. the dealer has asked me to monitor the situation over the coming month and see what happens. We'll just have to see what happens, thank goodness I took out the extended warranty, and the dealer has been very helpful, thank you Willis Skoda Ruislip.

suggest doing regular checks using the stick for the future.

Alright for some ........... I ain't got one,

Talk about penny pinching, Lol .........

I'm not familiar with this idea of deleting the oil level dipstick - is there an electronic 'button press' to check oil level now - or are you supposed to wait until the Impending Doom light flashes up?

@Warrior193

Yes, onboard diagnostic ...... it's a bit of a faff to check though. I will probably have to look at the manual every time I want to check oil level, I think.

I checked mine not all that long ago after a bit of a scare re exhaust smoke ...... (seems it is just water vapours local trusted mechanic 100% convinced) but I cannot remember how to do it now.

Not worried about it but why no dipstick anymore .........  who knows. :shake:

@Tilt Are you speaking about the BMW and no Dipstick?

I had a Renault about 20 years ago with no dipstick.  Level shown on the dash.

Aye ......

You have to do it in a particular fashion.

Drive a particular (minimum iirc) distance, with engine running iirc, level ground (obvs) maybe one or other specifics and await while it does it's check, for a reading.

Certainly not as simple as just lifting bonnet and pulling out dipstick eh, Lol.

Many seem finding the simple way not so or can not be bothered doing it.  Just like manually checking tyre pressure or topping up washer fluid.  No warnings and they are doing no checking.
