Power steering fuse

Featured Replies

If the fuse diagram is corrcet how does the power steering map to fuse number 8?

As in the manual book

Perhaps you could clarify your question a little.

I guess I m asking what fuse relates to power steering ? In the manual it say fuse 8 however when I look at the fuse diagram on this website it says fuse eight is empty

Whats the problem?

Looking at the current flow diagram the two fuses are in postion 3 (50amp) on the top of the battery and position 7 in the fuse box.

Hmm,

Thanks - Thats very kind - Is that for the 1.4 fabia petrol - 2000 model?

BTW : Is that attatchemnt relating to the fuse box inside the car - ie left of dash or is it the fuse box under the battery flap?

I didnt rellay understand how to interpret iut

Thanks so much

That attacment is the current flow diagram as used by the dealers.

As Ross has said, according to that diagram there is a fuse in the battery cover and one inside the car.

Pretty clear I thought which is which. maybe french would be better?

Regardant l'organigramme courant les deux fusibles sont dans le postion 3 sur le dessus de la batterie et placez 7 dans la boîte de fusible.

Hi,

Lumomx - thanks for the fuse diagram - Very useful

Well I thoroughly checked the fuse on the battery and it is ok - I also checked the fusebox and they are ok

However I think I have got to the bottom of this - The third brake light is not working - The light high up -

Do you think this is the problem ? And if so is it the light switch or the bulb or both

Thanks to all for the reply - I hope I can nail this down so that others might have a clue on diagnostic using the seach in this useful forum

If the regular brakes lights are working and the high level isnt it can only be a fault in the brake light itself of a very small part of he loom that splits off from the main loom at the back.

It wont have anything to do with the PAS fault.

On second thoughts - This still doesnt exaplin why the power steering pump wasnt picked up in a VAG com test by the dealer - The dealer could nt communicate with it at all.

Oh well - Lifes a bummer

If there is power at the pump and the data bus communication is ok on the PAS system then the only option is a faulty pump.

Hi,

Yeah , your right 0 I was just hanging on to my last glimmer of hope so i didnt have to replace the pump ........

so why does it say there is a pas fuse in position no8 in the manual for the fuse box inside the car when in the car it is empty?

Because the manuals are written for LHD and not allways the gospel truth, just a guide.

Ok,

Spoke with my garage - Watford to order a replacement pump and sensor-

Baically the guy there said hs had never heard of a pump going on one of these skodas - He suggested I bring the car in and get it reset ...

But when we hooked up VAG com to the car - It turned out to be that no fault codes were recorded - That is there were two code which were returned - but when cleared did not show up even a week later.

I guess I ll try one last go at having the fault codes checked. and possible reset but SHoudl I be holding my breath?

Ive changed plenty of pumps..lol.

So you have got communication with the pump now then?

  • Author

Well - no - No communication with the pump -- At least not with one dealers machine ..

So how can you check fault codes if there is no communication?

  • Author

Hmm - I guess I can t ...

The fault codes were from the generic faults code menu - But when we tried to check the PAS module there was no reply

I guess that means its no joy .

Both fuses are in the battery cover one facing you and one facing toward the back of the engine

Pumps duff, I had to replace one of mine with no comms, ECU is onboard the pump, so no comms = duff pump.
