Suspension upgrade on Octavia MK4

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any suspension upgrade on the standard Octavia MK4 suspension? Thinking about Bilstein B6 or Koni SA. It seems like Bilstein would be a bit more consistent, according to threads about older Superb/Octavia models.

However, I am afraid that they might increase the ride height, which would necessitate a radar/camera calibration.

only changing dampers should not affect ride height. The B6's at least should be a straight swap with the original dampers. I myself changed the dampers to Billstein B6 and the replaced the springs with an Eiback pro-kit. I did not calibrate the radar/camera and all has been well. The ride is much improved!

Nice! Can you share some pictures? Has the ride become harsher?

No issues with the matrix headlights blinding others?

Thank you!

On bad roads the ride might be a bit harsher. But I vastly prefer the ride and handling with the upgrades dampers. I think the dampers made a bigger difference then the springs. I started with the springs since that was a cheaper option, but in hindsight I should have upgraded both at the same time. There are not more issues with the matrix lights. I would expect less issues, since the headlights should be slightly lower and therefore shine less far..

It looks great! Is it with twist-beam axle?

Thank you for your valuable input!

This is the PHEV, so it's the multi link rear axle.

I would like to replace my Scout with new more powerful shock absorbers.

Will Bilsein B6 shock absorbers fit a Scout model ?

I wasn't aware that a Scout version of the Octavia 4 is available? Have you posted in the wrong forum?

There is - we just don't get it in the UK.

Kind of how the options lists for UK cars is generally hilarious compared to LHD (in terms of customisation, rather than packs). Type approval costs money, an the RHD market is very small.
