Lane Assist / Passenger Door Fault

Featured Replies

I bought a 2000 (according to the scan - 19 plate) Superb L&K about 2 month ago second hand. A couple of weeks ago the passenger door wouldn't open, either with the internal or external handles. Central locking seemed to sound like it was activating. The following week I started to get lane assist errors. Then the car went into limp mode + lane assist error on one occasion exiting a roundabout behind another car fairly rapidly. These faults appeared intermittent, then got worse. I ordered up an odbeleven to reset the codes. With everything cleared down the lane assist issue disappeared once and I could open the door. Then it reappeared next engine start.

I've pulled out the diagnostic info using the VAG app. Given that there's multiple issues around the left door i'm suspecting a wiring issue?

What would be the best way to diagnose this. There's still a month's worth of warranty on the car, so taking it in to be checked if it is a door lock issue is a possibility, though I'd rather trace it beforehand so I don't end up wasting time.

There should be a wire issue indeed. If the locking motor has a short circuit to + in your passenger door, it can't operate as expected. This may be the cause of your problem.

Then, the other code may be a result of the previous one :

Regarding the Lane assist system :

Check the blinker in your mirror. The lamp may need to be replaced, or there could be some rust causing this short to ground.

Considering the Lane Assist deactivates each time you move the blinker stalk, this may be a reason why it doesn't work...

Who ? Me ?

Well... Let's wait for @rowanw to make some investigations and confirm (or not) my sayings... Then we'll know if I was right... 😉

I think you've forgotten ApertureS. The master bot! 😁

Of course, H.I. is better than A.I. any day.

No, Aperture goes into a category of its own ... he has trascended the "virtuality" and has made those things real 😁

I think if that project car was to make a trip back to CZ more than one engineer would grab his/her head and pull his/her hair ...

There are a couple of short circuit error codes relating to stuff in the door. I’ve known a few cars (not Skodas) with chafed or broken wires at the door hinge where they flex every time the door is opened or closed. This is where I’d start looking.

I ended up replacing the blind spot light with a second hand working one. This cleared up most of the errors. After that the door lock still didn't work and was showing up in the error scan. Managed to get the lock replaced under warranty so all good now
