Cool box?

Featured Replies

Does anyone with an Enyaq have experience of traveling with a cool box in the boot, how much does it affect range?

It is running with power off the cars 12 volt system is it not when the vehicles mobile. Like the phone charging , lights horn, fans etc and not the high voltage traction battery. As to when stopped how soon it will run down the 12 volt battery will depend on what it,s power requirement is. Someone can correct me hopefully..

Hi. I use a large Dometic fridge and I cannot see any major difference. Please only consider long parking or night when the socket is powered only from the 12v battery not being recharged from the high voltage battery. Look at this as, say absolutely max 100W load which over 12h journey will take of your battery only 1.2kWh. This is obviously simplification but in principle tells you - no bother!

Enjoy your trip.

I have used one in the ID.4 and not noticed a drop in range. Make sure you have the Skoda equivalent of my VW's 'optimised battery use' set in the car or app, to top up the 12V from the traction battery when 12V is in use when parked. This will prevent the 12V being run down.

@Stonekeeper BTW the 12V socket in the boot can be made permanently live by moving the fuse just like most VAG cars if you need to run the cool-box while parked. I've done mine.

Thanks for pointing this out, I cannot find a setting for "optimise battery use" to keep the 12v charged whilst parked.

So I have moved the 12v boot socket fuse from always live to off on exit,

At first I thought it was not working at all after moving the fuse because I couldn't keep the ignition "on" without sitting in the driver's seat 😄. But found if i press the start button twice it goes to ignition on with a warning tone sound.

I then double checked it was going to go off by sitting in then getting out again.

Maybe Skoda have not implemented that as a specific option in the app? My suggestion was based on the assumption that all MEB cars are basically the same.

I have found that it charges 12v whilst ac charging.
