I need a bit of expert help from someone who knows the 2.0 TSI EA888 EVO4 well.

I’m hearing a strange “tapping” or “clapping” sound between around 1400–2000 RPM.

Is this normal?

I'd suggest that isn't normal, sounds like a belt, but whatever it is I'd defo get it checked out

Still have warranty but the workshop says its normal but for me its sounda not normal that’s why I’m looking for answers

Maybe worth checking if you have an independent VAG garage near you for them to have a look at it. Which will cost, but will probably give you reassurance

I live en Denmark and its hard to find a good mechanic that knows to ea888 evo3/4 engines and that why im tryning some

Yes it does but not sure that tapping sound it’s normal

I agree, definitely not normal.

I would be a bit concerned about a workshop that thinks that sound is normal!

Is there maybe a VW garage/specialist near you that you could try?
