59 plate fabia EPC

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 59 plate skoda fabia mk2 1.2 htp. Recently it has started having an issue where there is a complete loss of acceleration with the EPC light coming on. There are no error codes in the system and the engine management light does not come on.

The loss of acceleration can be fixed by depressing the clutch and letting it out. Sometimes this means the car runs fine for several minutes other times it is several seconds before it refuses to accelerate.

So far I have tried changing the spark plugs, cleaning the throttle body and unplugging the clutch pedal switch all seem to make no difference.

Any other ideas? Or similar experiences?

Sounds like the accelerator pedal sensor is wearing out. When you depress the clutch I assume you take foot of accelerator which if its worn at a certain point would explain why car recovers.

Thanks, I realised yesterday evening that I took my foot of the accelerator at the same time 😅 have cleaned the sensors on the pedal and so far so good!

Might be worth ordering another one in case its on its way out. Dont think they are that expensive.

@Fabia59 @Alasdair1 The rheostat itself is fairly cheap as long as you know which one you need. Buying the part from a Skoda Stealer means buying the pedal with rheostat attached, in which case it's about £110 + Rachel's Robbery (VAT).
