What have you done to your Kodiaq today?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Coming from the Superb MK3 forum, I noticed this kind of thread is missing here.

Thus I propose to correct this.

Well, today I started tuning my new to me Kodiaq (MY2022):

  • Door hinge covers installed

  • Door hook covers installed

  • Luggage cover handle upgraded with an Audi one (includes a spring-loaded flap to fill the hole and hide the boot content).

  • 2nd Kessy key upgraded with chrome parts (3rd one will remain full plastic).

Other mods should come soon.

Feel free to share what you've done too. 🙂

  • Impossible! You couldn’t possibly have done 460,000km today! Some rough maths say that would take over 600 tanks of fuel (at a generous 750km/tank)… at 5 minutes to fill and pay for each, that’s over

Discovered a new feature today. My Kodiaq is fitted with Virtual pedal to open the boot.

Not an option I would have specced, but funny one. However I need to pratice. I don’t get it right every time.

A good way to look stupid shaking ones leg under the rear bumper… 😁

i just wipe from the centre to the left with my leg :)

brought it out of the lockup. Helsinki tomorrow.
Lots done today:

  • Sorted the ignition live (used Fuse 34) and now my DSP works correctly.

  • Also ordered another 4 channel amp (for front and rear midbass), current 4 channel will run just tweeters front and rear

  • ordered the rear "work lights" (these: https://www.valostore.fi/fi/tuote/tyovalo_purelux_panther_alpha_30) for fitting under the bumper.

  • Made some progress on the box in the rear box so I can have a Ctek indicator panel in the box (this: https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/accessories/car-accessories/indicator-panel-1-5m)

  • switch for markers and the "work lights" will also go on there, along with LEDs for the space. Need to design some dividers so I can get the tow eye in there, along with a rope and other emergency stuff.

  • Pi will also go in the box to provide services for my WLED install, maybe also other stuff, i have to work this one out.

Lots happening.. i have a feeling I will be driving through a bunch of Europe in a few weeks, so stuff will need to be finished...

Wow, a lot of mods! Would be worth some pics, once you'll have finished. 😉

(Yes, I am /that/ bored today 🤣)

Edit: or on the assumption you’ve fitted a nuclear power source that doesn’t need refuelling for that sort of distance, you were doing an average of 19,000km/hour. Impressive!

Firmware updates for the MIB3 (thanks Pab).

Checked my VCDS setup still reads almost all my modules. Not paying £200 for an updated lead yet. Seems high to send my old MicroCan back for a refresh.

Confirmed that my rear antenna is dead hence the DAB and FM not working well. Waiting on the new module to arrive next week.

Today I did 460 000.

Yesterday I did 459 999.

washed it on the way home from the office yesterday; It was filthy and is still not clean.

LEDs for the rear should be here Friday; amp is already here but needs to be picked up after tomorrow's holiday.

Need to work on v2 of the amp board to make sure everything fits and sits and the lights I'm now thinking about can work... and the 4 channel amp needs a home and cabling.

Picked up the Pi on the way home from work yesterday, so that can get proxmox'd and tested when I find my micro HDMI adapter.

But first, some Ribero del Duero. Emilio Moro, 2020. Santé!

How old is you Kodiaq? I had a strange behavior yesterday on my radio system in my MY Kodiaq. No sound at all, though it wasn't muted. I unsuccessfully rebooted the MIB. All finally came back after I switched off and restarted the engine. Strange. Never faced that on the MIB2.5 of my Superb Mk3.

I have had this behavior 2-3 times in first year owning my car. Simple MIB3 reset did not help, but switching off engine and waiting for 1-2 minutes and then start the engine fixed it. I would say that this is a "feature". I suspect it might be related to using Andoroid Auto, cause after I stopped using it in everyday driving I have not had this issue.

I fear it might not be related to Android auto, cause I don’t use it… 😉I use Apple CarPlay

It`s the same thing.

Connected my Kodiaq to my profile in MySkoda app.

But once in the car, I can't add or rename a new profile without creating a an account with an email address. At least it looks so. Thus I didn't go forward.

Did I miss something?

Also discovered that there's no ski hatch in the centre rear seat back rest. Is this an option though on a MY2022 L&K trim? 😟

This was standard spec on my MY2017 L1K Superb Mk3...

Otherwise, could be related to the country were it was first delivered? My Kodiaq was 1st registered in Luxemburg, whereas my Superb was first delivered in France... 🤷‍♂️

no idea, sorry. I don't think I have a skihatch on mine, either, and it's a Style, whereas the Ambition Superb had it.

I've been in the garage today and yesterday. My LED reverse lights turned up (looking very good, too). they should fit nicely in the gaps at the side. Realised i absolutely have to take the amp board out again - i need to paint it and rearrange it a little and I was trying to avoid it. But it's needed.

Also got the additional 4-channel, so now it's time to book in for the reverse lights; i will not do those myself this time. Need to know whether they need the amps out for that, though. Tempted to get a rear dashcam sorted at the same time. And then get everything cabled neatly and put back in in the correct place. Running out of time before the next biz trips..

Been playing with the other car, too, and I thought the DSP install there was good... until there's a massive ground loop issue that I can't resolve easily. No ground lift on that device, either, so I don't know quite how to move forward with that one.

It`s not literally a skihatch, but the back seat can be folded in 40 / 20 / 40 parts. And you can downfold the central part separately from a knob next to the headrest. At least my car allows it.

That’s it. I didn’t pay enough attention.

The center back seat can be folded alone. Great! Thanks for the tip!

Discovered that the button to open the electrical boot from the driver's door also works to close it. 😃 Great!

This was not the case on my Superb Mk3 (open function only).

RTFM :)

You're right. Actually, I didn't expect this kind of feature, thus it's a kind of bonus. I could have spent my whole ownership without knowing this. 😁

There are mainly 2 kinds of situation where I read the manual: when I expect something happening that isn't, or when there's something unexpected that I don't understand... 😉

took the car to Helsinki Thursday. Was decent, but the vibration at 80+ is unpleasant. Need to get it booked in to understand what's up.. first thing will be summer tyres, as I'm still on studs. It was snowing about 10 days ago...

Amp rack is also mostly painted, so maybe that can go back in now. Then I think I'm going to pull a spare 4-core from teh front to the rear and get the lower panels back on.

Amps then go back in, so I have sound again...

I have been reading the manuals for years now. Specially later years. Cars are becoming complex. You cannot imagine what kind of features you could find there :) Just like you just did.

Received both head rests from sleeping pack today.😃

Will install them this week-end.

Otherwise, all parts ordered are available by my local dealer. 😃 again !

Will pick them up on monday.

OEM-tuning / upgrade is about to start... 😁

turns out my vibrations were just the tyres (!). now I'm on summers again and it rolls nicely again.

Amps are back in again and I think I really will try to do the 3-way upgrade up front. But for now, the car is safely ensconsed in -2 at Helsinki airport... until Wednesday.
