What have you done to your Kodiaq today?

@brettikivi Did you have saw tooth wear on your winter tyres?

Completely different topic: both head rests from sleeping pack installed today.

I've sat up for few seconds. It looks head is comfortably held to avoid neck muscles being strained...

Final approval will come from my children. 😁

  • Have driven 460 000 km without major problems.

  • Impossible! You couldn’t possibly have done 460,000km today! Some rough maths say that would take over 600 tanks of fuel (at a generous 750km/tank)… at 5 minutes to fill and pay for each, that’s over

I don't know what the wear looked like, they have taken them off and kept them for "technical checking".

let's elaborate a little: there was a vibration, felt like lumpy, bad roads. Started already at 40 km/h on the last bits. Was bad around 80 km/h, went away around 120. Would come and go, driving the good asphalt on the left lane would ease it, then then it would return. Not a consistent vibration with a rhythm, just vibrating all the time. Subtly. Annoying.

I was convinced it was a wheel bearing.

Quite possible my struts are also on their way out, the car's very wooden right now.

Hi,

Took delivery of some spare parts today:

  • A set of alloy rims. Original ones will be used with winter tyres.

  • Double sides boot carpet

  • Tunnel rubber mat

  • Caps for ISOfix hooks on back seats

  • Dummy button for rear passengers 12V socket

  • Skoda Logo for tailgate (not very fan of the 'S K O D A' lettering)

Deep clean planned for this week-end before taking few pics... Of course!

my measurement microphone turned up, so I will be going to do some DSP work this evening...

I had these as standard from the factory.

Alloys - good choice. I gave 3 sets, 20" summer, 18" studded for domestic rides and 18" non studded for European trips.

i have three, too - studs, without, and summers. But the studless ones currently have no rims... i need to get another set. Soon.

DSP sounds very good now. Tomorrow via the office to Helsinki airport, interested to hear how this sounds now.

Wow, 3 sets of wheels?... it seems logical when living in Scandinavian country, but what a budget! 😯

I think caps for ISOfix hooks were standard on mine too, but simply missing. But I don't know why (it's a second hand car).

Received my registration certificate. Importing process has then come to its end. Only need to get the plates, now. 🙂

Hi,

Today's, or rather...this afternoon's activities (after the final plates installation this morning):

1) Deep cleaning of the bodywork.

First pass with pressure washer to remove the biggest part of dirt, then shampooing with my foam lance, rinsing with the pressure washer once it's been sitting for several minutes, then hand wash with microfiber glove. And fine wish with a paint brush in the narrow spaces (e.g.: door and tailgate hinges, folds in the window seals, logos, honeycomb cells on the lower grille and the small strip under the tailgate too, etc.)

BTW, honeycomb design is visually quite nice, but cleaning and especially drying it, takes a bit of time.🙄... I might end up replacing this strip under the tailgate with the red reflector strip (Kodiaq RS-like). 😎. This way, I'll gain at least... 5 to 10 hp 🤣! And finally, drying with the MF.

I didn't need tar remover and nor ferrous decontaminant, because it was so clean in the narrow spaces such as hooks and door and tailgate hinges, I assume it had recently been detailed and/or had been sleeping in a garage. It was really very clean in those areas, even though they're usually quite dusty.

I even wonder if it hasn't had a bodywork treatment, because the paint is still well water-repelling. Or maybe it's simply because it's been sleeping in a garage, which has preserved its paint.

2) Removing the model (KODIAQ) and transmission (4x4) lettering. All that remains is the "š K O D A" lettering on the tailgate. But I think I'll remove it and replace it with the plain round Skoda logo, like on the pre-FL versions. It'll probably give it a slightly less modern look, but it'll be definitely better for washing, because the "š", the "K", and the "A" quickly ruin your MF.

3) Installation of the rear mud flaps. I didn't have enough time to put the front ones on because it was too late, as that would have required to remove the front wheels to drill the wheel arches (per Skoda instructions). So I'll do that tomorrow, 🙂...

Tomorrow, if everything still goes good, I'll wash the interior and install a few parts I bought.

Monday, I'll have its new summer wheels installed; it should have a lot more character. 😃!

Yes, I promise. Pics will arrive, but I'm currently doing my best to clean it as it deserves to show it off properly. 😉!

New cares brought today:

1) Front mud flap installed

2) Deep clean of the inside:

  • Completely vacuumed, even in the spare wheel well 😁.

  • Carpet cleaner on the boot floor.

  • Damp microfiber on plastics, and seats.

  • Rubber mat brushed with soapy water

3) ISOfix hooks cover installed for rear seats.

4) Tunnel cover installed

2 things left for tomorrow:

  • Leather care

  • Windows cleaning.

  • New summer rims installation

Then, it should be OK and ready for new pics. 😃

Hi,

Everything done yesterday.🙂

I now stop here regarding mods'.

Potential next ones will be thru VCDS. 😉

Pics posted in the dedicated thread.

washed it on the way home.

it rained.

it no longer looks washed.

5.3l/100 is OK though.

<sigh>

i parked it at... 2-ish. Clean-ish. With it raining, hard.
I go out to it earlier:

damn seagulls...

so: today was the first time I washed this car twice in one day.

Washed the original rims. Almost ready for winter tyres in a couple of months. 😊

Hi,

A few mods made with my VCDS yesterday evening:

- Activation of the Teardrop wiping function on the front and rear wipers

- Activation of the A/C fan speed display in AUTO mode

- Deactivation of the DRLs when the handbrake is applied (engine off)

- Activation of warning lights upon emergency braking

- Activation of the "Heart Beat" mode on the START button (Kessy system) --> Totally useless and therefore absolutely essential! 😁

- Activation of the "Drive Green" menu. --> I should come back to it because it's displayed, but there's no score displayed...

And the good news is, I was able to check the number of Launch Controls performed on my Kodiaq: 0! That's great.

Otherwise, I still have 9 other VCDS modifications in mind. But I'm not sure they're feasible. Anyway, I didn't struggle with the SFD protections, that was the good news.

Once I've finished with these VCDS mods, I'll make a dedicated thread. Stay tuned! 😉

I have made tons of VCDS mods also, would be interesting to see, what you have done.

Hi,

The list of my current lods is above.

Do you mean the coding for ranch of them?

If yes, I intend to create a thread with VCDS codings. 😉

Thread could be useful.

So, it's giving me a full christmas tree. I was cruising on the motorway from Helsinki, suddenly - BIM! - and then they start, the errors.
Park Pilot.

Start-stop.

ABS.

Parking brake

ACC

Front assist

Hill-hold.

7 errors are currently in the list.

So I figure something is borked somewhere, but the question is what? I'm 250km from home (though I'm going to drive it anyway, I do have limiter still working).
I figure the error is to do with either wheel speed sensors or the ABS module per se. But a stop / restart has not helped so far (doing a longer halt now)... I have zero tools with me and all my OBD2 reading gear is at home. I could go get a 10mm and disconnect the battery for a minute, that might help. But if there's something else I could try, I'm all ears. Also if someone wants to place an educated guess as to the cause, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts......

Torque, frustratingly, shows no errors.... But I am assuming it is trying to only read the engine ECU.
My current suspicion is a wheel rotation sensor gone (probably as part of the bearing)... I will go over to the mechanic now and see what their reader says...

My initial guess would be low battery voltage given the variation in errors.

Try using the car scanner app I stead of torque to check for errors

so that's where it gets interesting. Car has done 4200km over the last month and a half. There seems to have been some low voltage issue somewhere at some point - the battery was changed out in January, 8000km ago. So I don't get the reasoning behind this, Unless there's a bigger issue with one of the voltage regulators or charging system that I haven't yet identified.

errors have been cleared and mechanics did a quick road test - no return. Let's see what happens.

Maybe too late…

If not a wheel speed sensor, I was thinking to the selected gear sensor. 🤷‍♂️
