athermic/metallic coated windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Solo travelling to France soon and while I love the French toll roads the thought of getting out in a panic to pay or stretching over the passanger seat is something I don't want to do.

I've just puirchased an Emovis Tag for easy toll usage. Simple, or so i thought.

The insturctions say to pop it on the "mottled" area next to the rear view mirror however this is a rather busy area with little to no mottled area avaiable.

The instructions then say if this is is case to pop it on the clear glass as close to the mirror as possible, fine, but then warns if you have an athermic/metallic coated windscreen it'll interfere.

So the question is, do MK2's have an athermic/metallic coated windscreen?

My last few Fords had amazing deforst windows, but don't think that's the case with Skoda/VW.

The only additional packs on my MK2 are the winterpackage and light & view plus package.

Thanks,

David.

Don't have a Mk2 - but I have a Mk1.5 vRS with a heated windscreen. My tag goes right up at the top next to the mirror on the passenger side. Never had an issue with it.

Be warned though... you have to get right up close to the barrier before it 'beeps' and the barrier lets you through. Can be a bit 'wtf?!' the first couple of times, especially using the express lanes where you don't stop!

Thanks for the visual, the mottled (black dotted) area on the MK2 is a lot smaller than on your MK1.5.

I've seen a few other ask this question over a number of forums after looking in to it, think it's a stuck it and see.

I had my fulli in the dash and just waved it about a bit. Worked fine.
