Black alloys on a Black Magic vRS

Featured Replies

I'm in a bit of a quandry!

I've vowed never to change the alloys, but recently been tempted to go for some 17" TT Competitions. I've seen a few sets for sale, including a nice set of black powder coated ones.

I know the TT Comps look nice on the Fabia, but what about black ones on a Black Magic Fabia??

Your thoughts please................

any pics of the wheels or maybe a photoshop jobie

Haven't got a pic of the alloys in question, but here's one of a familar vRS with TT Comps fitted:-

I've black pro race 2's on my black Fabia' date=' and love the look but others hate it.

A mate has just put black spoke polished rim on his car and it looks stunning, must be the way to go.

I've seen a few a cars with black alloys with a polished rim, but the TT Comps have a flat spoke style so there's no rim as such.

I saw this at GTI International:-

Although I love the look of black wheels I do think that to show them off in the best way is to get a set which has a anodised/alloy rim, without it the wheels and tyres tend to just merge as one and the effect is lost especially on a black car.

Edit: Just like the ones on the Audi TT above.

Agreed, I think there needs to be a bit of contrast. Plain black wheels remind of a base spec car thats lost its hubcaps, plus it becomes difficult to see the wheel as everything just blends into a black hole.

Hence why you have bright red/green brake calipers and HOOJ discs ;)

Completely agree - black wheels on a black car just look wrong! To be honest I don't like these wheels in silver either - the standard VRS alloys are much nicer.

I was considering an anthracite colour for my Octy vrs alloys and met up with mally on this site who has a silver octy vrs who had his done at Romax Stockton.

They looked good on a silver car but personally don't think it suits black.

I think I'm going to go for a grey colour similar to the Cupra R alloys or maybe something a little lighter like these.

I used to have a punto GT and people thought the wheels were black but they were in fact a kind of dark anthracite with a blueish sheen to them. I agree that black on black looks a bit poo

I quite like the look of that!

Errr....No!! :thumbdwn:

Jon, it's just one of these things, you love it or hate it.

It's your car.

If you still want them black, keep a silver lip on them. All black looks hardcore but not good in my opinion.

That's the problem with the TT Comps. There's no lip to the rim, so it would look daft if the colour just suddenly changes.

Arrrrrrrrgggghhh........just seen a set of 5 mirror polished TT Comps for sale!!!

Have a look at the honda Civic 18" storm alloys, they are a ncie colour :)

Are they the black GT3 alloys?

Don't mean to change the subject slightly, but what is going on with that grill?! That really does look very cheap and nasty (some would say it looks '****'!). It looks like the owner has attached a large black nostril to the bonnet!

 A positive input...
