Hi Pab, I tried to send you a private message, but I don't have enough content points.

The VIN number is TMBBG7NE6E0185048

Wanting MIB2 with the 8in screen (original or facelift)

Just want wireless android car play so I can use google maps etc, don't want to lose any features.

Any chance you could private message me please.

Would really appreciate it

Thanks

So now you have Amundsen MIB1, with Bluetooth, with DAB, part number 5E0035874A, with USB 5Q0035726B and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system.

You can install one of four different OEM glove box units:

- MIB2 Bolero

- MIB2 Amundsen

- MIB2 Columbus

- MIB2.5 Columbus

You also need to replace display unit:

- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N

- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M

- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

If you woulkd like to use Apple CarPlay then you also have to replace USB port.

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":

- Video playback from DVD, USB, SD

- CD playback

- OEM navigation

- displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them:

- MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB

- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

Hi Pab,

This option would be best for me

- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

Would it matter about the display (8in original or 8in facelift?)

Also, is the android car play wireless? Or wired?

Is there a list of model numbers for the MIB2 glovebox unit?

If I source the parts, would I be capable of fitting them? Is it straight forward?

Would you then take care of everything else? (unlocking, updating etc)

Thanks for your help with this Pab, really appreciate it.

You can use any 8" display, it's up to you which one you prefer, both will work with Amundsen MIB2.

Android Auto and APple CarPlay are wired, if you want to have it wireless you must add third party adapter.

Amundsen MIB2 with DAB glove box unit part numbers are 5Q0035874A, 5Q0035874B, 5Q0035874C and 565035874. New unit must be patched to disable component protection and enable all the features.

Yes, I can deliver complete set in Plug&Play version, I will send you PM.

Hi lab. Sorry for the late reply. Appreciate the detailed reply you gave also. I’m inclined to go with the same option as KP Octavia . I need the bigger screen with Apple car play as current unit has no nav . What sort of cost could I be looking at please .

Hello, can someone help me? I have a Škoda Octavia 2014, VIN TMBJJ9NEXE*******. I believe I have an Amundsen MIB1 system and a display that is neither the smallest nor the largest, but the medium size. I do not have CarPlay, but I would like to have it.

Can someone tell me whether it is necessary to replace the main head unit in the glovebox, and which part numbers / unit versions I should look for? Also, would I need to replace the display if I want a larger one than the current medium-sized screen?

If possible, I would appreciate a brief explanation of what display sizes were available for this model year of the Octavia.

Finally, is there any cheaper or simpler solution to get CarPlay, or is replacing the head unit and display the only option?

Thank you in advance. Photo 1 is my display and photo 2 is diplay they want.

We realise this may be problematic for new members however, hopefully someone will be able to initiate the chat.
Thanks, Briskoda Admin.
