Ripping CD to mp3 software

Featured Replies

I'm after a nice easy to use bit of software to rip cds to mp3 format.

Can anyone reccomend one i can download? Preferebly freebie but i dont mnd paying if its good!

Cheers

Windows MediaPlayer,

Audiograbber and many more. I just user media player, once configured from its default wma setting.

Second vote for Media Player.

Tried others (including iTunes) but went back to the Microsoft product because it seemed faster, was easy to use and it is free.

How do you configure media player to save files as mp3?

From memory........

Put the CD in and choose "rip" from the tabs along the top.

Tools-> Options (i think) to configure the settings. Go for variable rate between 92 and 128 wotsits (i think)

Yep!

But you do need WMP version 10 or higher.

Nice one!

Cheers dudes!

If you want to get down & dirty, try EAC (Exact Audio Converter) loads of options.

I prefer to use iTunes nowa days... dead straight forward.. just works.. it's even better on an actual mac as well.. as it will rip those audio non-cd's (copy protected) to mp3 with no faffing. :D

Media player works well, Itunes does a good job as well once you set it to MP3 and thats free alos (just a bit bloaty, even next to media player)

FreeRIP :)

To be fair for windows iTunes does install quicktime as well... (and with the size of todays HD's is it really that much of an issue) it can be quite annoying that can't have one or the other as well... mind you M$ have been bundling software together for yrs now :D

Might be just me but I never got on with media player... doesn't help that i switched to OSX acouple of yrs ago either so barely use windows for anything other than games now...
