Stalling

Featured Replies

My vrs has stalled on me several times changing up from first to second gear. If i keep the revs reasonably high when doing so then not a problem. The flywheel and clutch have recently been renewed so not that. Didnt think diesels could stall so easily. I have asked my mechanic to connect his fault code device to see if anything shows up ?

It will help if you supply engine size and code - all we know at the moment is diesel and manual gears.

Does the engine idle smoothly and at correct speed in neutral?

Its a 2010 diesel vrs 2ltr. Idle and running all okay.

Does it exhibit the same behaviour when engine revved in neutral, then allowed to slow down?

No. To be honest it might be a case of driver technique As i do most of my driving in an mx5 which has a different clutch feel.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your terminology, it's a little difficult to see how is is possible to physically 'stall' a vehicle that's already in motion (at probably more than 10MPH) - the kinetic energy alone should keep the engine running in gear.
