Service Confusion

Featured Replies

Bought 5 months old Kamiq 1.5 Monte Carlo dsg registered 30 December 2024 with 535 miles on odometer. At 1068 miles it tells me that it requires a service can this be correct?

Somebody messed up resetting the Service Interval at some point.

If it had a PDI when first registered the car has a Flexible / Variable interval of 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles.

So to December 2026, or the miles.

If reset to Fixed Service @ the PDI then to 372 days / 9,400 miles.

December 25/Jan 2026.

Best check what was done, or who did what Pre Sale Check Used car coming to you.

They could pay for a Free Service to you now for being hopeless.

Keep the cars Service & Maintenance record all correct. & reset to what you want.

Fixed or variable servicing.

After buying a car, it makes sense to have it serviced and have a full diagnostic done. This way you will be sure that everything is fine with the car. IMHO.

^^^ A car 5 months old with 535 miles on it?

@Topbox What was the story, is it a Skoda Approved Used car and was it a VW / Skoda owned Demonstrator, Ex Management, Pre Reg car used as a courtesy car or such?

Do you have a Service History & a Used car check list for the car?

If it's Skoda approved used then take it back to the supplying dealer.

Many thanks to members who offered help.

I managed to reset the service interval myself.

@Topbox What have you reset it to,

and do you intend getting it serviced (Oil change & filter) a year on from the PDI having been done?

In Australia VAG cars are 12 months or 15,000km WHICHEVER COME FIRST Ours is coming up 5 years old and has done 14,000km but will get its 4 year scheduled service next time. Same with my Tiguan 13,000km 3 year service done. If you are in Europe they may be on long life service regime. How did you set the service time as when my car was delivered they had not reset the service time from when it left the factory (3 months prior) and it popped up early. I couldnt reset it to anything but 12 months from then and had to take it to the dealer who had to use ODIS to change it by a few months.

The Skoda in Europe/EU/UK and for here are leaving the factory set for Variable / Flexible servicing. The Citigo petrols were on Fixed and so were PHEV.s. oil and filter changes. If changed to Fixed that happens at the PDI because someone decides to. Service plan. Fleet, demonstrators or greedy dealerships not asking the new owner. Manufacturers warranty only 2 years in some countries and 3 in the UK.

Once again n answer to the question for the solution is helpful for readers who may have the same problem So How did you reset the service time and by how many months Etc

I have a tool to do it but would only do it in scheduled amounts So 12 months from when I tried when I wanted it 3 months as had been on a boat and dealer didnt reset it when they did the delivery service.

They had to hook a laptop up and reset it to a certain date, which only they could do

SO WHAT DID YOU DO
