2019 Mk 3 Octavia glove box

Featured Replies

Having done 144000 miles in my 2010 Octavia L&K Estate I finally bit the bullet and now have a 2019 Octavia L&K Hatchback. I'm trying to fit my Nextbase dashcam but can't drop the passenger side glovebox down so I can expose the fuse box. The manual is no help at all and I don't want to force anything as Skoda plastic can be very expensive. By the way the 2019 car isn't as well built as the 2010 model, just sayin'.

First remove the panel on the side of the dash, then there's a little hole about 3-4 inch from the bottom where you can poke a screwdriver through the lift the damper off of the catch.

Then tug the glovebox upwards and outwards at the same time quite firmly and it'll pop off of the hinges.

I went to change the pollen filter on mine, and i discovered the damper was removed already, so i didnt have to worry about it, 2 minute job. Not really bothered about the damper so will just leave as is.

I had the same. The damper arm was just rattling around inside the bottom of the glovebox.

I'm guessing whoever changed the pollen filter last time, couldn't be bothered to refit it.

I had mine out yesterday and followed someone else's advice about using some gaffer tape to stop the damper arm from escaping when refitting. 👍

The damper IS a pain in the backside, but it's not so bad to sort out, once you get the hang of it.

But there is definitely a knack to be learned, and it's frustrating until you know what you're doing.

If you can live without the damper, then that would make life a lot easier. 😄

Incidentally, I found the full fat Bosch filter (Bosch A8530 - Cabin Filter Filter+) to be a bit pricey the last time I looked, so I went for the MANN equivalent (MANN-FILTER FP 26 009 Cabin Air Filter - CARS + TRANSPORTERS, Yellow) which fits perfectly.

Amazon links for both filters below.

(Obviously prices vary depending on where you get your filter from)

Thanks for the replies, had the car in for investigation of rattle going over bumps and potholes etc at Skoda Hawco Inverness and it appears to be the sunroof. While investigating they found the glovebox stay loose and connected it.

You'll find the A-Pillar trim to be far more exciting than the glove box! I've attached a photo of my dashcam setup, to show you what some cloth tape, a Dremel and an hour or two can achieve 🙂
