Hey guys,

This looks like its going to be another one of those DQ200 posts...

Coming back from weekend getaway, cruising on the motorway. At some point I noticed while in 7th the RPM short of... dancing. Car was steady at 120-130kmh. To check I dropped the car in M6 and did a pull, from 1500 rpm full throttle. Clutch was slipping up to 2500.

Today i did a pull in 5th and recorded. The engine looks like it accelerates in steps. Conditions: foot to the floor, slightly uphill, dsg to M5

I will go on the highway today to see if i can recreate with video. A mechanic today tried the car said it was fine. I recorder the video after leaving his store I will try the reset method i found online (gas pressed 30sec). I've seen people complain that the gearbox is juddery, but is this normal...? This is my first ever auto gearbox. To my eyes it looks like the clutches are cooked

Car is 2020 1.6TDI with DSG7, 105,000klm

Thanks to all for your time

EDIT. Don't drive in Manual and then not change up.

We used to when Sprinting with Fabia vRS just floor in manual and force the DQ200 to change up, it was faster than in S.

So, to your question,

Normal for one with faults / issues. So it needs dealt with.

It is a S-A gearbox. this means Semi Automatic,

7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG.

A proper reset might be in order, not the self reset pedal to floor stuff.

Maybe look at the threads in the Fabia mk3 section. They are long and winding, and the long and shot, pre your 2020, there were software updates, and clutch packs.

A reset might work, or diagnosis from a tech that knows DQ200,s and not one that says, 'they all do that'.

I don't see what this has to to do with anything. I don't usually drive in M, unless in winding roads etc. This is to demonstrate the issue that I'm having.

I will check for specialized workshops. Not sure what I will find here in Greece, but thanks for confirming that its not normal.

That demonstrates the issue of holding it in a Manual gear.

Sorry i could not help in any way and just cause offence.

Maybe since in Greece you could get both oils changed and the gathering stoor out from beside the clutches, but maybe it just needs that and new clutch packs.

Have the specialist do a reset first though.

Sounds like the clutch packs might want looking at, or there could be another issue that's causing the box to hold back clamping pressure. Less likely, but it's possible.

I'd get it looked at somewhere proper - even the DQ200 is still a pretty finicky box, and you want someone that knows what they're doing. Looking on the TVS Engineering website, there are places in Athens, Heraklion and Thessaloniki.

I drive a DQ381 and DQ200 in manual mode fairly often. There isn't really an issue with this, I don't think?

I haven't found the DQ200 to be particularly juddery - it's in a 2021 Ibiza FR. I can provoke my DQ381 to be a bit dodgy, but that's often in traffic if I squeeze the throttle and then suddenly lift off in 2nd or so.

Just to clarify, the issue is persistent in all gearbox modes. I used M just to capture the video, otherwise in D/S the geabox would change gear and the issue would not be that evident.

I will check TVS, thank you

I understand exactly why you were using M to hold it in gear - as I said, I'm not too sure what the issue with doing this is.

TVS is a good benchmark for DSG stuff. YMMV (your mileage may vary), but anywhere that's a TVS dealer is usually worth a punt.

Earlier DQ200,s In Twinchargers we could get them when sprinting to go through the gears when taking off in Manual 1st right up to M4th without lifting and then change across to D and 5th and have them change up to 7th @ 127 mph. Maybe Manual did show how you have slip, but then there is a 1.6TDI and a DQ200 dsg with different software /management than in other DQ200,s /engines.

The Slip in the Famous DQ200 slip was with TSI,s mostly, 1.2 then 1.0.

As it was the 1.4 TDI,s with a DQ200 were very prone to slipping.

Letting them self change was Simply Clever for longevity.

But with Twin chargers i could do double kickdowns, drop 3 gears and get it on Supercharger & Turbo between 2,800 and 3,500 rpm.

Indestructable until they were bust. Then New Software and Uprated clutches were just the job.
