Octavia mk2 Estate tailgate struts replacement

Featured Replies

Well Otto’s tailgate don’t go fully up unless I push it up ,

Are the struts easy to change ?

Yes use a flat blade screwdriver to remove clips and pull off ball joint.

Grab some from eBay I did find my hatch replacements a lot stronger. Or maybe I got used to how naff old ones were. Very easy to change. Use a good support piece of wood or broomstick. The weak one might make it drop on your head/fingers.

Brought and dispatched and will be fitted Saturday when I’m back home

Don't buy cheap ones. They are either too strong and a PITA to close and they don't open smoothly. They also might be wrong and you'll have to send them back. Don't ask how I know.

I still have the cheap, correct ones fitted and keep meaning to refit the old knackered ones as they were better. Also the cheap ones rust more compared to my 21 year old struts.
