What does vRS stand for?

Featured Replies

Anyone know? I'm guessing the RS is Rally Sport? But what about the v?

It stands for Victor, following a court win against Ford. The rest is rally sport.

Was Victor the name of the bloke who worked for Skoda...........or did he work for Ford............

I thought it was for value, as in the Tesco value range.

I think I prefer Victor though although not sure about the relevance of that.

Im sure it should have a Y on the end of that ;)

so Skoda won a case against Ford over the use of the RS badge, and to show off their victory they used vRS instead... :rubchin:

Or maybe its just a V sign to ford, the Skoda ":finger:RS"

Just what i was thinking! Whats the point in fighting to win the case and then not using RS??...

Doesn't VAG's RS stand for RennSport (German for motorsport) rather than Ford's RallySport?

Do search; there's loads about this topic on the site.

i think thats correct.

the v is basically taken from the top of the S in Skoda tho, it doesnt stand for anything, at least thats my understanding of it.

Very Rapid Skoda.?

I'm sure the actual meaning is allready on here somewhere.

Had a quick search on the site; the v is the Skoda Motorsport emblem and stands for victory - which explains the badge on the grill. It still seems that it was going to be an Octavia RS here in the UK until Ford objected and Skoda UK rebadged it Octavia vRS.
