2015 Octavia - Powered driver seat not working

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just bought this 2015 Octavia Scout LHD that has, among other nice things, powered driver seat. The thing is, seat acts dead - no button works, no reaction on tapping memory buttons.

I checked under the seat, module was 5Q0959760A - supposedly, one with a bad reputation of dying. Now I just got delivered a new module from ebay, 5Q0959760F. Spent some time struggling to get it fit (since the seat doesn't move), but I managed to install it. Still, no move. Nothing works.

Checked fuse #45, looks fine. Using VCDS, module 36 (which corresponds to driver seat module) doesn't respond. In the infotainment, pressing on the Seat item in the settings throws out an error.

What should I check next?

Check whether the voltage is present at the seat connector

You mean the one that's a pain to reach with seat not being able to move? I read that there's a big connector under the carpet, right by the left rail. I'll try to power the motor directly so I can move the seat forward / backwards.

there are 4 screws then you can fold the seat down

Here I am reporting from under the seat.

Connector corroded with the power pin being completely torn by corrosion.

People say this might be the result of water ingress - car has the panoramic sunroof as well. But, in my case, everything is dry and dusty. I even found some parking bills from 2019 here.

Now you know your Problem 😉

After hours of searching I managed to find the number for the corroded pin - N10319203. Since I couldn't source that locally and I didn't want to wait a week for an external order, I went and got a similar plug from the scrapyard, removed the pin and repaired my corroded wire.

Put everything back and I got a working seat now.
