Driver and Passenger side windows open when locked

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

New here so be gentle with me.

I have a lovely Skoda Octavia Mk 4 (2020>) which for 99% of the time is a really lovely car ... however, there are a few odd things which are a bit strange and quirky. The worse one being that on a couple of occasions after I've locked the car I've come back to find that the driver and passengers side windows are totally open. Obviously, I don't leave them totally open when I leave the car. The thing is I can't remember if it occurs when I lock the car or when I come back to the car to unlock it ... or it happens at some other time. It's only happened twice in over 14 months since I've had the car.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Few other quirky things:

i) SOS light comes one randomly (in another post, someone said its comes on after about 1 hr 30 mins driving. I'll try to note if that happens with mine)

ii) Popping speakers even when the radio is working

This morning I had the car alarm going off as I walked towards the car. I couldn't switch the alarm off using the fob and had to drive home (a few miles) from the local town with the alarm going off. Only stopped when I opened all the doors and bonnet. I've seen a couple of posts which describes exactly the same thing.

Should I take the car back to the dealer for a diagnostic check?

Many thanks

Pete

Windows open may be that you have inadvertently held the unlock section of the fob in your pocket or it has been pressed against something else (it usually open all windows though, not just one side).

This happened to me a few times so I always make sure the keys are not left in pockets at home.

As noted a long press of the fob buttons can open or close the windows. This can be disabled in the infotainment screen on the vehicle settings exterior screen.
