Škoda Kodiaq vs Superb back seat space - Help

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of buying a new car and I need your help deciding.

Can anyone tell me the difference in rear seat space between the Škoda Kodiaq 5 seat version and the Škoda Superb (model years 2021–2023)?

I need to fit two child seats — one behind the driver 9-36kg and one behind the front passenger Isofix base and child seat 0-18 kg — plus an adult (90 kg) in the middle rear seat.

In which of these two cars will I have more space and comfort for the person in the middle?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hello, welcome to the forum.

My first instinct would be for the Superb.

Have you compared the two vehicle dimensions?

Although external dimensions might not be repeated internally, the Superb is both longer and wider than the Kodiaq, but the Kodiaq has a higher roofline.

Hi,

I have just checked on official Skoda brochures.

Superb Estate Mk3

Outer width (w/o mirrors): 1864mm

Inner width (rear passengers): 1520mm

Kodiaq mk1

Outer width (w/o mirrors): 1882mm

Inner width (rear passengers): 1510mm

But the inner width seems to be given at door handles according to brochures’ pics.

The most interesting value would be the inner width at rear door armrest.

I don’t have my Mk3 anymore, but this was a value I had looked at when comparing different Estate models to remplace my Superb Estate Mk2…

I don’t know if the Kodiaq is wider for this particular value. Kids have grown and I have only one child seat for the youngest who is 8.5 y.o. now. So, not an issue anymore for me now… 🤷‍♂️

Nevertheless, the legroom for rear passengers is very similar on these both cars.

Neither of them is comfortable for the 90kg adult in the middle. Middle seat is half seat. I reccomend to look car what has 3 separate seats in the back.

I've owned both. They're both very spacious for leg room, probably among the best of all cars.

I think rear seat space is about the same, but a tape measure in your nearest showroom will answer the question.

I think my Superb estate boot was a bit longer than the Kodiaq, but the Kodiaq is much taller. Both boots are cavernous.

It's why we buy them

echoing: neither comfy for the central adult. the Superb felt slightly wider than the Kodiaq but it will be just as unpleasant.

The compromise boot space vs seat space is easier in the Kodiaq with the moving seats (at least mine move forwards / backwards quite a bit. The height of the seat cushion may also make it easier to load child in and out. But getting in to the middle will also involve some acrobatics.

Boot is longer in Superb. Backseat folded, Superb fits longer equipment, ~10cm longer. I have transported 2,10 meter doors and they fitted easily in Superb, but it was hard to fit them into Kodiaq, so that I can drive the car.
