Front assist camera

Featured Replies

Hi all I have a faulty front assist camera dealer wants to remove front bumber to investigate possible dirt or debris and charge me £350 even though it's a under warranty.

I didn't it had a bumber camera ?.

Mods. May need to move to mk4 forums.

@Tonyduncan it would be a radar unit behind the bumper. They will charge you if it turns out to be just debris as they probably feel that would be caught under maintenance.

However, if the unit or wiring is faulty, I would expect they would need to cover all the work.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

The front assist camera is mounted high on the windscreen, behind the rear-view mirror - NOT behind the front bumper!

There is also a radar antenna mounted in the front grille (square cut-out) - but, AFAIK, that only requires removal of the grille.

Thanks the fault report says camera field of view problem so think it's the windscreen camera.

Wow. Was it bought from a Skoda main dealer?

A really pertinent question you should ask your dealer is why they were pricing for removal of front bumper!

Field of view for front camera will almost certainly be covered in your warranty - was this vehicle sold as a 'Skoda Approved' one?

yes it was i told them to do one on the bumper cost so thay waverd it

That was very big and generous of them - caught out when trying it on 😡

Have they agreed that the actual issue with the front camera is covered in the warranty?
