Faulty electric tailgate

Featured Replies

So my Electric tailgate is playing up. A few days ago I stopped it manually cause it was about to hit my garage door. It threw a wobbly, beeped at me and wouldn’t close so I closed it manually. Since then it doesn’t open or close properly, stopping part way and beeping at me. I’m having to force it manually. I’ve tried resetting by holding the close button and also disconnecting the battery with no luck.

I bought a cheap obd scanner but it isn’t showing any fault codes. Surely this would be throwing a code? The insulation in the wiring is slightly damaged in the usual spot but still in tact so I don’t think that’s the culprit. Have I really killed the motor just by stopping it manually? I’m about to buy some eBay replacements unless anyone has any suggestions…

The wiring will be the issue. Mine was the same till it finally broke and gave up

I do find it a bit coincidental that it only started doing this right after I stopped it manually. Has anyone looked into this issue and found a fault code? I’m thinking surely there should be one and my cheap scanner can’t find it
