Oil drain plug rurning but not coming out

Featured Replies

Hi, I am trying to change the oil on skoda octavia mk3 1.6 tdi 2018 but the oil drain plug turning and not coming out any help will be appreciated?

Thx

Is this the first time that you have tried to get the drain plug out?

Can you get a thin piece of metal (small screwdriver) under the collar of the drain plug and try to put some pressure on it (lever it outwards) as you unscrew it?

Unfortunately if it it as bad as you say your may need the sump helicoiling or replacing.

Not great news. As you know, it should just wind out - but from what you say, some gorilla has been there before you. The thread on the plug and probably the sump also are damaged. Maybe even glued / sealed somehow. Try teasing the plug out with a blade / edge behind the head of the sump plug. At least second hand (or even new) sumps for the 1.6 tdi aren't super expensive.
