Skoda Fabia II Combi (2012) ISOFix base

Featured Replies

Good day all!

My wife and I are expecting a baby, and started looking at car seats.
We were looking at Nuna car seats (Specifically the Nuna PIPA Next) but the dealer told us that the Fabia is not compatible with ISOFix bases (for most brands) since the seat platform tilt is quite pronounced. They recommended us a car seat with built in ISOFix attachment (also from Nuna, so quality is not an issue as such). We would like to be able to have the 360 base feature though because it can make life much easier. We are not in a position to just buy a new car at the moment since we might have to relocate in a few months. On the user manual of the Nuna Pipa it shows that with the Base Next isofix base it is compatible. See image below.

My question to you guys/gals is, have you used an ISOFix base in your Fabia II (ideally Combi like ours)? Have you had any issues with the position of the baby?

Would love to hear some input! Thank you:)

Cheers!
Daniel

Does this seat base have a support leg fitted to the front of the base? the seat we had was a Joey and that said it would not fit our old MK2 estate but it did all we had to do was make sure the leg at the front was really tight on the floor any normal mats take them out and put to one side to put back in later, all we did was ensure the base is pushed in hard on the isofix before extending tthe leg (if fitted) I'm not sure if it does have one but if it does i see no reason why it might not fit, the main issue they say it doesn't fit is the fact the seats are on a slight slope but we never had any issues with the Joey 360 seat and when our granson was bigger we used it as a normal way around seat until he got to big for that seat

Hey thanks for the reply. Apologies for the delay as well.

Yes the seat base should have that leg. Joey, as far as I know are the sister brand of Nuna - and on this particular base the Fabia estate from 2008 onwards is ticked green. My bet would be it should work fine, because what sense does it make that the manufacturer says it should work well with our car, and then you get it online only to find out it does not - or if it does the baby risks choking due to the tilt... image.png

We had this on the the back of a mark 2 estate and it worked fine https://www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/products/britax-romer-dualfix-m-plus-360-spin-car-seat-midnight-grey

We found the these people really helpful https://incarsafetycentre.co.uk

They said that the Skoda has a very shallow seat and a bit of an angle to it.

We decided to go with the Nuna Pipa Urbn in the end - saves us a base as it connects directly to the ISOFix and should fit the Fabia well. The dealer we visited told us the same thing yours did, and he also mentioned Britax as one of the very few brands that fit the Fabia well since they can counter the seat tilt by tilting the car seat in the base. In the end went with the Nuna for the high safety rating (one of the best out there according to the likes of ADAC) and simplicity, saves us from buying a base and the hassle of removing it everytime (would be a bit hesitant leaving it in the car long periods unattended if someone with sticky fingers spots it) and saves us a bit of cash too, without giving up on safety which is the number 1 factor for us.

We had a maxi cosi with base back in the day - used a couple of Recaro seats once the kids were older and finally stopped needing one this year! Didn't have any issue fitting the seats in the skoda mk2 estates, except the third seat belt gets entirely blocked. You'd have to be very small to fit in the middle anyway!

Thanks :D
