Whats missing under the boot carpet?

Featured Replies

Hi, just bought a 2001 Octavia VRS and where the spare wheel sits there seems to be some empty pockets in the foam storage "thingy". And in the spare wheel tray, i also seem to have something missing? Can anyone tell me what should be there (if anything) or are they just for storage of personal effects. See attachments for what i mean. Thanks in advance.

We use the sections 1,2,4 & 5 to keep things like cable ties and a roll of gaffer taper, just incase someone wer eto knock off th ewing mirroer or bash th ecar and the bumper needs temporary support etc.

Number 3 is the perfect size for a bottle of Halfords ready mixed screen wash (which we then reuse, filling it with non-ready-mixed stuff)

I suspect they are designed for hazzerd trianlges and spare bulb kits etc. for other markets.

Don't think you are missing anything. Think my looks exactly the same.... unless I've been missing something for the past 3 years

It's good for storing secret stuff though ;)

Is that where you store your secret modifications, Q ? ;)

Orange spray paint?

luggage net?

:orb_hot: I've just bought my VRs last week from the local dealer on a 05 plate and it didn't have anything in the these compartments.

I don't have my octavia yet (getting it sat!) but my dealer told me that there is room to store a removeable towbar neck in there somewhere, not sure where exactly though.

Well you have an alloy spare not a steel

In other European countries there's a legal requirement to carry things like a first-aid kit, spare bulbs, warning triangle etc. and they would be in those empty pockets.

Looks normal to me, the right hand picture where you have a ? is the space where the detachable part of the Skoda tow bar would go, if you have one fitted.

Do all Mk1 vRS's have an alloy as a spare? I was well chuffed when mine turned up with one, thought that the previous owner might have splashed out on one.

As above, I have filled the spaces with first aid kit, tyre weld and a tyre inflator bought from Ebay for £8, it's a belter. Oh and a proper tyre pressure gauge too.

Of course, those of us lucky (?) enough to have a FWD Elegance estate have another under floor storage compartment 6" tall that covers the entire area of the boot floor.

Trouble with that is that once it is full it makes it impossible to get to the tyre area without dumping everything onto the ground.
