Fabia 2 - Where is the aerial amplifier?

Featured Replies

Still trying to locate this aerial amplifier on the Fabia.

There are two aerial cables connected to the back of the radio, but only one on the roof aerial - so I'm assuming the other goes to this, but I can't find it.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Thanks Alasdair1

Yes, the Fabia also has a small circuit board built into the roof aerial base - but only one aerial connection. The back of the radio has two aerial cables inputs.

I'm trying to find out where the second cable goes.

Thanks

I have I assume a window aerial on my Octavia MK2 12 plate. Off side rear side window. Looks like a demister.heater like on the back window? Not sure on Fabia.

Had a quick google of the part number on the aerial amp out of curiosity and LLL parts list it as an impedance convertor for screen aerial so I assume that on one of the windows will have the metal aerial strip and the amp may well be behind the trim

Why are you trying to locate it?
he reason I ask is that Ive just bought a 2014 Greenline for my daughter and going through the VCDS scan I have a DTC 00856 which is radio antenna short to ground or open circuit.
My symptoms are that radio reception is poor, even when collecting I was surprised that very few stations could be found.

Does anyone have experience of this to identify if its the antenna or amplifier?

From my experience on a MK1 fabia that issue will be the roof aerial. Water gets in over time and corroded the circuit board in the antenna base

ahh i have a mk2 in this forum

Pretty certain it's the same / same issue

And sadly it was!

The coil was toast and a couple of tracks were corroded through

Hi, I never found the amplifier - it's a mystery!

I did see a diagram somewhere but maybe a mk3 with it in top of rear hatch/boot.

It's built in to the Aerial base

I've already shown the OP that in the third reply to this topic - 'aerial base with integrated amplifier' 🙄

Think they were meaning the window aerial impedance adapter not the amp in the aerial base.

I have fixed the radio reception on mine, turns out my after market radio only had one of the aerials connected so i got the twin fakra adapter
