Climate Control Unit has died!

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking for advice re a replacement climate control unit for 2002 plate Octy TDI 110 Elegance.Local Skoda dealer wants my life savings for a new part!! They have tried a new control unit and say this is the problem. At present no response from the unit at all. Also temp display on onboard computer is blank.

I have seen several identical looking units on e-bay but all are passat/golf units with similar but not identical part no's. My question is does anyone know which will fit or has anyone else had this problem and is there another fix??

Thanx:

Try sending an email listing what item(s) you need to www.skospares.com

They are down in Dorset but do nationwide mail order delivery.

They will need your precise vehicle details to work out what may be compatible. however they seem to have a lot of good condition second hand parts, that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Good luck

The VW variants will have blue/red illumination and not the green of the Skoda item.

Thanx for replies I'll let you know how I get on! cheers!!

I have a spare one, make me an offer.

Don't forget, if you fit a new unit you will need to calibrate it (can be done with VAGCOM)

Are you sure? I didn't need to when I changed mine to a VW one.

You should have to do the basic settings of the flap motors.

Usually blinks at you if something is out.

If either the climate unit or the V68 motor is changed then you do, yeah. Guess you might have been lucky?

Yeah, just swapped mine and didn't get any faults logged.

You need diagnostic equipment.

Bit of a late reply but I had the same problem (no cold air) when I swapped mine for a VW red / blue climate control. Unit needed to be coded, local dealer did it FOC. Now if only I could find the right instrument cluster.

I got my cluster from a German ebayer.
