Power loss

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a fabia 2010 1.2 petrol, when i tried to drive it,it felt like it was in limp mode, it runs ok but wont rev over 3000rpm and sounds bogged down, all pipes are on, brand new exhaust and camshaft sensor, but still not working properly. Some say timing jump, if anyone else has come across the same problems, can you please help.

Whats the air filter like? Try running it without.

Hi Alasdair1 ive changed the filters apart from the fuel as the screw is rusted tight, thats my next to do to see if it bad fuel flow. Tried with and without air filter, sadly no change.

Wildly unlikely to be fuel filter related. Check the chain timing or compression test it.

Ahh, ok. Just trying to eliminate possibilities. Timing chain is next on the list, just hope it works. Thanks for the advice from everyone, much appreciated.

Is it a 1.2 TSI or MPI,

how many miles done, when were the spark plugs changed or looked at?

If a non-turbo, is it the 6-valve 60bhp or 12-valve 70bhp variant?

Chain timing check on the latter has been described by me many times on here. Not that tricky.

Its a 1.2 3 cylinder petrol. Only done 62 thousands so far,tbh not used very much, its a runner around town car for my mum,i just try to maintain it for her.

Plugs were changed with all the oil and filters. Along with a whole new exhaust from cat back.

Still two options. Do the spark plugs stick out forwards from the engine, or are they vertical down its centreline?

They are front facing plugs.

I bought me a 1.2 HTP 69hp for my son and it had a new timing chain. It was not the fastest car and every month lazier. I measured the compression and the third cylinder had poor compression.

I removed the head and the outlet valves of the 3rd couldn't closed because of soot deposits (E10 !). Took out all the valves, cleaned the head and made in & outs and the combustion part smoother . There were 3 different inlet valves and 4 were bend ! So 6 new in and airbox of my F2 VRS. The "tuner" measured 73hp. Then software manipulation and we arrived at 90BHP !

Wow thats a lot out of that little engine. Fair play.

I found out mine is the timing chain stretch so have now sold it on due to cost of getting it repaired wasn't much different than the cars worth.

Thanks everyone for all your advice.
