Auto brake hold

Featured Replies

I'm new to this forum so hello all.

Just taken delivery of a new Superb Estate iV which I'm really happy with after not clicking with my previous Audi A6 Avant. This will be my third Superb over the years.

One thing I did like about my Audi was the brake hold function.

I know the Skoda has hill hold but when I pull up at traffic lights I have to keep my foot on the brake or put electronic handbrake on otherwise car rolls forward.

The Audi would just hold itself until you depressed the accelerator and off you went.

I have looked all over the settings and can't see if the Skoda has the same function as its a bit of a faff having to keep selecting the handbrake.

Thanks,

Ian.

You might have to go into vehicle settings and in the brakes section toggle Auto Hold on.

My Superb keeps turning this function off and I have to reset it. If anyone knows how to stop this happening I'd love to know.

I have the same think happen on mine. I think it's when the system has an over the air update ot resets to off.

Had the same issue of the auto hold switching off. After raking around in the settings to find out how to switch it back on, I have now added the control to the top menu of the infotainment screen so that it is easier to find.

Mine must be getting updates several times a week then.

Auto Hold is what you're looking for. I wasn't sure how well I was going to get on with it when I first got the car, but have come to really like the feature after a few months. If only I could find a way to prevent it from intermittently turning itself off every couple of weeks.

(And if someone can tell me how to prevent "drowsiness monitor" from autonomously turning itself back on all the time, too, I'd be really grateful!)

I always give the brake pedal a firm press to ensure that the Auto Hold is active. It sometimes will not set if you use a light brake pressure.

I get that - but on more than one occasion Auto Hold has autonomously switched itself off, and I've had to go into the vehicle settings to reactivate it. Sorry, thought I'd made that clear.

These things happen. As mentioned previously, no need to delve into the settings if you add the Auto Hold shortcut to the top menu.

But they shouldn't. If I set a specific function to 'on' or 'off' in the car, I don't want the car then deciding every few weeks to autonomously alter that setting for some reason - I want it to stay as I put it. If it doesn't, that suggests a software issue.

I’ve noticed that on my car the Auto Hold seems to keep the brake engaged a little too long. By the time it releases, I’ve already pressed the accelerator quite a bit, so the engine revs, meets some resistance, and then the car moves forward. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but that’s the overall feel. I’m curious if this is normal behavior or if others experience the same thing. I’m also comparing it with an EV, so the difference might just be natural.

My old Audi had the same issue as does the Superb. I tend to tap the accelerator briefly to trigger teh brake release then pull away 1/2 a second later. So at traffic lights I tap the accelerator when the lights start changing. By the time they are green the car is creeping and will pull away smoothly.

Mine's the opposite, it likes to roll back from Auto Hold and so I have to give it extra revs from stationary.
