ABS pump variations

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Im looking for some info on ABS pump/module plug variations. I have a 2004 mk1 Fabia vrs with an ABS fault and suspect its the pump/module. I've searched wiring diagrams to test the plug pins and found these vary depending on specification I.e. ASR,EPS,year etc.

Does anyone know how to get the correct information for whatever model you have, also if buying a used pump, what part number is compatible accordingly and are other vag group pumps compatible? Any help appreciated, thanks.

What makes you suspect the pump/module?

It's nearly always a cracked strip fuse, you've come across that, right?

Yea, checked all fuses and grounds. I want to check the module plug however pin locations on my plug seem to contradict wiring diagrams I have searched, cheers.

Just thought Id add to this to close out. Shortly after posting the original question re ABS module I had the following:

  • Oil light on dash

  • Dash clocks inop

  • Dash tell tales not working

  • No battery or coil light on start up

  • Car starts but cuts out after a second

  • All above intermittent/ was fine sometimes

I thought I had 2 problems, ABS module and AN other. Carried out the following:

  • Checked all ground points on the car and cleaned up anyhow - no corrosion

  • Alternator voltage drop check

  • Replacement battery

  • All visible plugs for corroded pins

  • Loom running below the battery box For breaks/corrosion

  • Wiper motor out and check loom below scuttle panel and through bulkhead junction

  • ECU for corrosion

  • Door looms for breaks

  • Dash clock circut board for dry soldered joints

  • Central Control module for corroded pins

I then bought replacement Dash clocks, ABS pump & module and ECU. Programmed the ECU and clocks while waiting on the ABS pump - no different.

Plugged in replacement ABS module as a last ditch effort and everything worked as it should! I stress this was an intermittent problem, hopefully this will save someone 2 weeks of headache. Cheers.

Also, was after sending the original ABS pump and module away for a £250 rebuild supposedly offering a lifetime guarantee. I asked the company for information relating to the job card and was told I couldn't get it and to check the cars wiring.
