Electric boot release -intermittent fault

Featured Replies

Hi ,

The electric boot release on my 2021 Karoq works only intermittently and means I can only open the boot when the computer says OK.

I have drenched it in release oil with no luck so I'm assuming it's an electrical fault. When it fails it won't open using the key, the switch in the driver side door or by hand using the release button on the boot.

Without any apparent pattern it will work normally on occasions.

My local Skoda dealer tells me it needs to be put on diagnostics (for which they want an non refundable £150 despite the car being covered by a Skoda extended warranty) and if the computer says it's ok then .......?? well I'm not sure what then.

Any advice is much appreciated.

If the boot doesn't open then it is obvious there is a fault, whether the computer says so or not. If they insist, try another dealer.
