Hi folks,

I'm shortly moving up to the highlands and although most of the roads I will regularly use are good roads there are plenty that may need a lot of care when using if it has been snowing. That being the case I was considering buying another set of wheels with winter tyres. My question is this, someone mentioned that as I have 19" wheels on the Kodiaq I should use 18" for the set with the winter tyres and although they could offer no real reason why, out with possibly thicker tyre walls, it got me wondering. Are they correct?

Anyone have any recommendations for the tyres?

I used the Skoda approved size 17” wheels with 215x65 tyres on both my previous Kodiaq’s.

I still have the wheels and tyres in the for sale section and really need them gone as I have downsized to a Kamiq.

Hi Kenny, I can't message you privately because of account restrictions. However, if you message me I may be able to reply directly to you. I have some questions.

Problem is if you dont use correct ET and specs as skoda requested for 17inch,18inc etc wheels.. If you use all correct there is no problem. I have 20inch for summer tyres and 17inch for winter tyres.

The only wheels that Skoda approve for snow chains on both the Kodiaq MK1 and Kodiaq MK2 is 215/65R17 6.5Jx17 ET38.

Skoda also list a 7Jx17 ET40 rim, but that specification is not approved by Skoda for use with snow chains.
