Gear number display on Virtual Cockpit

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a new Kamiq 1.0 Monte Carlo DSG and I cannot find out how to display the selected gear number [i.e. D4 or D6] when driving. My previous Kamiq did this automatically, any ideas?

A decision was made at Skoda / VW that with a DSG it was not necessary for you to be able to see what gear it chooses.

Vorsprung Durch Technik!

A strange decision. I have a 2020 Kamiq-SEL with DSG and I find o a number of occasions that changing to manual selection I can use a higher and, therefore, ore economical gear.

Does it give an indication of gear in manual mode

If you use S mode I think you'll find it gives the gear number. Also think it happens if you start changing gear yourself.

Hi, I have a Kamiq 1.5 TSI with DSG7 and I have D1 -- D7 and S1 -- S7, N, R and P

I can check my coding soon

Best if people that have the Gear Indicator showing the numbers say when their car was built.

Obviously it is not one that Skoda produced that does not show the gears.

My December 2022 Kamiq 1.5 DSG shows the gears.

Mine is 2023

Pre 2024 /25 is not relevant really as the Gear still showed when in D with a VC.

Definitive answer have been out yesterday. Also in the Golf R

When in D mode my car (2025 registered 2023 built) only shows D in normal drive mode.

If I switch to S mode it shows S1, S2 ...etc.

If I use the flappy paddles it shows gear number.

This applies to most VAG models with DSG after 2021. Certainly appliers to our Golf.

Applying to 'Most' on VW's Mostly after 2021 is great.

So what date is it for Skodas?

You do realise that all VAG group cars are very similar under the surface?

The changes tend to appear on VW a little before Audi and Skoda. Seat sometimes lags behind.

If you dive under the bonnet of your Skoda you'll see an awful lot of VAG makings on the parts. In the same way all 1.0 and 1.5 engines are built in the Skoda plant irrespective of the car they are used in.

You should also be aware that there is a huge amount of stock in the pipeline, the date of a cars registration is meaningless. If you were given the Certificate of Conformity with the car (not mandatory and often binned by the dealer) you'll find the date of manufacture which is the relevant date to understand what the configuration of your car might be.

@Aldfort I do actually drive various VW Group cars and pay attention to VW,s, Seats, Skoda & Audis.

New cars or nearly new as well as having driven older ones.
