2.0tdi Jerky When Cold

Featured Replies

There is no benefit in idling. Get the glass clear inside and out and on your way. If you have a Gulf Filling station that sells their Super Diesel i would fill up. & give the car a good roasting once at operating temp. There is quite a detergent package in there diesel. Change the fuel filter if not done. ?When was the Air Filter last looked at or replaced?

I think little idling is allways good. Its not healthy for cold engine to rev.

In here Finland we say one cold start will be same that 500 miles driving. But at freeze it will stand out more than + temps.

What kind of cleaner you will get?

I dont have problems but fuel filter change is soon so i thinked also some cleaner to filter.

I found old conversation where conclusion was that 90% of products are just paraffin (that is used for lamps) and few percent some color or something. Only few got another incredients.

I looked safety data sheets today and still same. 90-95% of all products and if we look one product byself it has 90-95% paraffin.

But maybe home made just pure paraffin or some two stroke oil mixed it is risky for these newer diesels who know.

Little idling while moving is good, sitting with an engine running might well be a different thing in Finland than in Ireland.

Finally got around to this over Christmas. I changed oil and filter as it needs service anyway, fuel filter, and ran a can of diesel purge through the injection system bypassing the full system.

So far it's been running great.

The coolant temp probe may have gone out of calibration. Won’t fault unless it dies.
