Another peculiar event

Featured Replies

Hi all. Another odd event today. I was listening to music from a usb stick, when suddenly I found the soundtrack had changed to a programme on BBC Sounds catch up service from my phone via Android Auto. This seemed to happen just after I'd selected revers gear in the unlikely event that this makes a difference! Strange things was, that BBC Sounds wasn't running on my phone at the time and when I was last using it, I was connected to a different channel. Am I, or is the car going mad?

This a regular event for me and it’s driving me crazy. The media playback software is completely unfit for purpose.Even a £5 mp3 media player on Amazon manages to playback the tracks I want to hear, in the order I want to hear them, continue from where it was after pressing pause. My Superb can’t achieve this basic requirement.

I select an album to listen to, car plays a few tracks. Park the car and turn off the ignition midway through a song and come back 10mins later. The infotainment continues to play the track that was playing but when that track finishes instead of playing the next track it selects the next album on my usb stick and starts playing that from its first track. If I press the next track button then it advances to the next album, not the next track. This is 99.9% repeatable. For the other 0.1% of events the infotainment instead decides to play a random album stored on my phone when I get back in the car.

A 5 year old could make a better job of writing software to do this, is such a simple basic task for heaven’s sake! I’m a retired software engineer with 35+ yrs of experience of programming so this sort of basic, rudimentary fault is incredibly irksome to me.

I’m seriously considering getting rid of the car after just 8 months of ownership. I can feel a Basil Fawlty moment is just around the corner !!

To be fair, this is the first and olny time it has done this in the mere two and a half months I've owned the car. I'm hoping there won't be a repetition. Fingers crossed.

This morning, I had music playing from the usb stick and a track playing from my phone at the same time, even though i have disabled apple carplay. 4 months and 2500 miles driven, I still cant figure this out

The issue occurred again today. More Googling and I've now disabled the setting on my phone that allows Android Auto to start playing music automatically. Fingers crossed.
