What to replace with if the software problems cannot be resolved?

Featured Replies

So my car has already been in for one software update, although some issues were fixed a lot were not, windows opening randomly then not being able to shut, infotainment turning on when opening rear doors, tailgate shutting when loading, over sensitive emergency braking etc etc, all the usual problems.

The first service will be due shortly and I'll ask for another software update at the same time.

But what if that does not fix the problems?

I will have to replace the car as you cannot live with these annoyances.

But what with,

no Audi, VW, Seat or another Superb as these all have the same software problems.

No diesel, just do not like them, so that rules out the E class Mercedes, after this it becomes difficult for another normal estate car to replace the Skoda, there just is not anything else.

So reluctantly looking at SUVs, got it narrowed down to Peugeot 5008 or Hyundai Santa FE.

There are a few others that nearly fit my use but most let down on there ability to fold all seats actually flat.

Any thoughts?

5 series tourer seats actually fold flat. Similar in dimensions and spec to the superb, but might suit to roll back a few years to when computers/software didn't control virtually everything in the car. I'd consider it if the was a well looked after car available. Older than 5 years will negate the surcharged annual road taxes

I can only comment on what not to replace it with: my 2024 V60 I’ve bought to replace Superb Mk3 has been nothing but annoyance and headache so far. Terrible software quality, plenty of bugs from random reboots and complete loss of sound to some issues with dome and boot lights, random glitches of driving assists. Poor ride quality, mediocre seats (did not expect that from a Volvo).

If it wasn’t for Sportline seats which turned out a very bad fit for me, I’d say than mk3 is a much better car.

I consider 3 and 5 series as the next choice.

"5 series tourer seats actually fold flat"

As far as I can find out the latest 5 series has a capacity of 1700Lwith all the seats folded down, that's getting on for 9 less of the 32L boxes that I carry!

Also do the seats fold flat? (or almost flat)

That's another thing altogether!
