All in Service Plan Warranty Saying faulty clutch is not covered on 33k mile 2021

Featured Replies

Hi

I think my Karoq (DSG DQ200) clutch is having a similar issue to others on here. Chirping noise between 2nd and 3rd going uphill under a bit of strain. Seems to be a sweet spot where accelaration is a bit faster but more than that and it doesn't happen.

It's 2021 and only 33k miles FSH. I bought the all in plan start of this year.

Took it to dealership and showed them my video and they immediately said it is a known issue of a clutch plate warping or something and it's on their service bulletin or something? They said they've had a lot of these and the warranty application normally goes fine. Mine was rejected with a one liner saying not something not covered by warranty. They offered goodwill of parts but labour is still > £1k.

The all in service plan warranty has clutch and brakes excluded as wear and tear items. 33K miles? This can't be right? It's a family car we aren't boy racers..

I am also getting a rattling clacking noise at low speed which again dealership is a known issue but say it is a characteristic of the clutch springs or something? It's normally when taking foot off accelerator and very noticable over speed bumps. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I first had the car and I only started noticing it this Summer as window was down so it's more obvious (passenger side).

Any advice?

Thanks

Let them show that TPI. See The famous DQ200 Clutch Slip in the Fabia Mk3 section. There were Software Updates and Clutch Pack upgrades.

Hi thanks for this. Re the extended warranty I know that wear and tear of clutch is excluded but at 33k miles my take would be its a faulty product.

It is 4 years old and not driven by you since new is it? Yes they can be faulty products. There were 2009-2012 then A Global Recall excluding Europe, then a Service campaign on ones 2013-2015, now done 3 times in Australia, then issues 2015-2018 and the TPI. But that is no help to you because like thousands of others you are going by the T&C,s and not The Lemon Law like in Australia, or countries where VW get bent over for stuff not fit for purpose for 6 years.

Hmm...the operation of the clutch in a DSG isn't within the control of the user. OK, you could abuse it, but it would take sustained deliberate intent to do it - the gearbox electronics should take care of the clutch.

On the SEAT forum someone sued their dealer over a clutch failure in an early 1 litre manual at low mileage - they got an expert to say it should last 75K miles and they won in full. I'm gobsmacked there's any issue on a 33K mile DSG. The car is much newer and has a different engine to clutch slip article above.

Are you sure the dealer has asked, and, of so, appealed? I just had a heater panel replaced on our 7yr old 90K mile Ateca under All In - it had crackled where the heated seat buttons are. Dealer initially said no, I asked them to ask again and All In came back and said yes. Job cost was £888.

The knocking noise you're hearing might be the suspension piston knocking in the bump stops. Ours does it - it's a known thing and they grease the pistons and it stops for a while then comes back. It's most noticeable when the car is loaded and making slow turns. If it's not that, then there's a whole bunch of other known suspension noises, including the strut top mounts.

There are members here that have posted of 1.0 TSI Manuals with low miles but out of warranty and even in warranty Ex Dealers / Demonstrators cars with clutch failure who get nothing done and paid for by Skoda or Dealers.
