1989 VW/Skoda Infotainment update crashes when using Radio app if you turn off station icons

Featured Replies

Since the 1989 update I can't select a radio station without the system hanging and then rebooting. It will do this repeatedly if I try to listen to radio, even after a long press reset. If I don't turn off radio icons, all is fine. I only turned them off because the screen looked messy with the blurred enlarged icons, so no big deal, just sharing here in case anyone else is having problems.

My car is a 2023 Octavia Mk4

As per the advice in the thread for the v1989 update……. Have you tried carrying out a restore factory default reset via the settings menu?

If not give it a try and it should sort out your issues.

Once you’ve done it you will need to sign yourself back in and make yourself the primary user again using both your keyfobs.

Yes. I restored to factory settings and all was working fine again until I turned off radio icons and the same crashing problem came back. I didn't make that connection first time so restored to factory settings again and all was fine for a bit until I got round to setting up the radio preselects and this time I realised that it was turning off icons that triggered it. Factory settings one more time and this time I just didn't turn of icons and it has been fine ever since.

Hmmm that’s a new one. Might be best posting about it in the 1989 thread to see if others have the same issue.

I didn’t even know you could turn radio station icons off to be honest. (I’m one of the ones who downloads and installs the latest radio database every time they release it to get them all filled in as they should be). 😁
